Camelot Junction

Breif description of the layout . The layout is basically a three level horse shoe shape with a helix at each end to take trains back under itself to reapear on the other side of the room . Out of site is a fairly basic fiddle yard which i can store approx 8 full length trains which can be bypassed in both directions , allowing for constant running . At a reasonable running speed trains take about three minutes to complete one circuit , this allowed me to insert block sections on the visible part (powered by lenz abc function) so i can run three trains on each line and they have about 45 seconds between them , after waiting at a signal for train ahead to clear the section in front . This keeps the whole layout moving all the time with trains waiting in the station for trains to clear the longest section. So whilst im shunting around the yard , trains constantly pass on the main lines next to it .

It all started about 4 years ago when i was waiting to move house and i was getting bored just sitting around (everything was packed) , so i decided to go to my local model shop and by some electronic bits and bobs and a bit of track and just do some soldering and make some simple circuits for signals and stuff . I used to have a layout when i was younger but i sold it all (twit), and i always enjoyed the electronic side of it . So it went on from there …… next i bought some track and a couple of locos and and and……. next thing i knew i was in my new house with a spare room and a railway along two walls of it! But i got bored of just having trains going backwards and forwards so i eventually went all the way around the room on trestles and planks of wood . Then came my first mistake , (up until then i had only bought steam locos) …. i bought a EWS class 60….then all the steam locos were sold or swapped for modern locos , then came my second mistake ! I bought a copy of American Railroader and opened the pages to be confronted by a massive american layout with loads of different levels and helixes and yards and DCC and…. Long trains !! That was about three years ago , and this is what has happened so far…………

My Goal…….!

I don’t know much about real trains , like where they run and what colour schemes they are , so on my layout i generally run what i like ……. as long as it runs well ! I find that if i dont like the way something runs they normally get chucked in a box at the back of the loft .

So the train plan for this layout is simple , if it runs smooth and it modern then it goes on my layout …. oh and it has to be strong aswell !! There are a few gradients to contend with !  Thats it really not much else to say about that !
